Tips for a productive preview/session:
Why hire a professional makeup artist?
A professional invests time, energy, and money to acquire the knowledge, and experience necessary to provide exceptional service. Your professional makeup artist will correspond with you in a timely manner, have a contract which protects both parties equally, be punctual, organized, and possess the patience needed to maintain a level head in a fast-paced environment - all while catering to you beauty needs.
When should I book my Makeup artist?
Your bridal makeup artist should be one of the first wedding vendors booked. Many great professionals are booked a year out. So, having the pro you love most over one you may be settling for is quite important. 6 months to a year in advance is great. 3 to 6 months is pushing it but still better than waiting until the last minute. Keep in mind also, April to Mid-June are months which fill the fastest.
What's a retainer, and when is it due?
A retainer is the advance payment to a [professional] for services to be performed, intended to insure that the professional will service the client and that the professional will be paid at least that amount.
The retainer for bridal makeup service is 50% of contract, to book your date. The final balance is due 1 month prior to the wedding or an agreed upon date prior to. Bridal makeup services which are booked within 3 months of the wedding date must be paid in full, & contract completed.
The Groom and a few groomsmen have blemishes, and a bit of discoloration.. Do you offer makeup services for men also?
Yes! Light correction/concealing/powder services are provided for the Groom, groomsmen, and gentlemen of the bridal party. No worries! The artist of BV have honed the color matching, and blending skills - for skin like appearance on and off camera!
Is there a travel fee? If so, what is it?
Yes, there is a travel fee. The 2014 IRS standard travel rate is $.56 per mile, round trip.
The initial rate covers vehicle wear/tear, fuel, and one meal within a two hour travel time period. Travel time beyond 4 hours round-trip is charged at a full day rate, and may require hotel accommodations.
How long will it take you to do my makeup?
A full application of makeup, including faux lashes, takes aprox. 35 to 45 minutes. A "no makeup" makeup look requires more attention to detail (e.g. concealing flaws, mimicking texture, detailing brows, etc.), and takes just as much time, if not more.
What products do you use?
I love Armani Beauty, Whiphand Cosmetiques, Tom Ford, Makeup Forever, Kevyn Aucoin, Dior, Philosophy, & Urban Decay (just to name a few)! Several products of these brands deliver such beautiful quality I've armed my kit with them. There are many professional brands as well (e.g. Ben Nye, Mehron, ect.) Many are unknown to the average consumer, & coveted amongst artist. I strongly believe in product quality. If it doesn't perform you can bet that product isn't in my kit.
How do you keep your products sanitary?
I clean all my brushes with 99% medical grade Isopropyl Alcohol after each client, and deep shampoo them after each booking. Products such as wanded gloss, & mascara are used by disposable applicators only. No double dipping. Using a metal spatula, palette, and other high standard sanitation practices are vital elements in keeping products free from contamination.
Yemisi Rose, and associates, reserve the right to refuse services to any guest which compromises the hygienic or overall safety of the artist(s), kit, and/or the contents due to contamination (i.e. open sores, lice, physical illness)
I would like my artist to stay for touch-ups.
